Romans 15:3-4 NIV 2011

For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

Jesus came as a servant leader to do the will of the Father, not His own. John 4:34, “‘My food,’ said Jesus, ‘is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.’” That included His excruciating death on the cross for the sins of all. Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Using Psalm 69:9 Paul presented Christ as having paid that price. Scripture reveals to God’s faithful, following Jesus brings hope.

Thinking about all that Christ accomplished on Good Friday just boggles my mind. Jesus’ words to Pilot during trail, John 19:11a, “ You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.” What man meant for evil, God meant for good. Scripture shows me daily God’s created man to have a relationship with Him. He sent Jesus to restore that relationship by sending Him to the cross. God’s Word shows us following Jesus brings hope.

Apart from Christ where is find hope for everyone else?

Hopeful in Christ,

  1. I so agree with u Sally! I can never out give Jesus. He gave all for me. He gave the ultimate price. I live for Him who died for me!
