Judges 7:7-8 NIV 2011
The Lord said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites home but kept the three hundred…
The Midianite army was numerous. Gideon started with 32,000 men. God spoke to Gideon. He wanted him to pare down his army and did so three times until there were only three hundred warriors. Judges 6:2, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel will boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’” Against all odds, Gideon obediently followed the Lord God. Judges 7:15b, “Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hands.” Gideon and his men were victorious. Those who trust in the Lord are victorious warriors.
Gideon is just like we are today. He followed the Lord and was victorious. When he died his legacy was lost and Israel returned to doing their own thing. I’m prone to that behavior when I take a break from church or studying God’s Word. It’s just like when the sun goes down, nothing good ever happens in the darkness. I need the Light of Jesus Christ in my daily life. I know He’s right there beside me every step I take. Because I trust Him, I am a victorious warrior.
What kind of warrior are we each day?
Surrendered and trusting Him together,
