Hebrews 10:23-25 NIV 2011
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews was written prior to the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem. Hebrews holds consistent cues from the Old Testament for the Jewish converts to keep the faith. Hebrews 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house.” 2 Timothy 2:13, “If we are faithless, he remains faithful for he cannot disown himself.” The words “giving up the meeting together” were words of caution; do not abandon Jesus and stand firm in your conviction. The Lord is fearlessly faithful to His faithful followers.
Becoming a faithful follower of Christ is a process for all of us. It’s helpful to meet here and spend time in God’s Word. I then reflect on how I see Him working in my life. Looking for the little nuggets of truth in the lives of those I love reveals His faithfulness. I know I do not deserve the many blessings He’s showered upon me the sinner. He is God the Father who continues to be fearlessly faithful to me His faithful follower.
Where have you seen His fearless faithfulness today?
Faithful followers of Christ daily,
