Psalm 33:12, 65:4 NIV 2011

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.

Blessed are those who choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with good things of your house, of your holy temple.

The Psalms began by boldly stating, Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.” God chose Israel to be His people. Psalm 84:4, “Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.” God wanted His people to spend time worshipping Him. Psalm 23:8, “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” The Lord blesses those that choose to follow Him.

Choosing to follow the Lord came with the charge to die to self, hear and obey His Word and trust and wait on Him. Psalm 40:4, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord…” Trusting the Lord is much easier than waiting. Being obedient is the choice I make when my feet hit the floor. Dying to self is one of the hard ones because I’m “kinda” selfish which makes it a moment-by-moment choice I need to make. By following the Lord, I receive His blessings daily.

How has the Lord blessed you today?

Following the Lord together,
