John 15:13-15 NIV 2011
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his mater’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Jesus continued His discussion with the disciples after another “I am” statement. He shared the love friends have for each other. His love will be taken a step further the He laid down His life in sacrifice for the sins of all. They were no longer His servants with Him as their master. Christ took each into His confidence by sharing His Father’s plan. God’s plan for Believers is to have Christ’s spirit of friendship.
Moving six times in four years was difficult to build friendships in my pre-teens. Just when I found someone to invite over, we’d move. I was then reticent to ask new people over when we first moved to Seattle. Eventually friends were made at church guiding me to make them in school also. God has shown me taking someone into my confidence is a slow process. I’ve learned there are gems to be mined in friends after learning more about them. Daily I see God’s plan for me to have Christ’s spirit of friendship with those close to me.
Where do we see someone needing our friendship?
Friendship is God’s plan,
