Psalm 40:1-3 NIV 2011

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a roc and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.

Psalm 40-41 complete Book one of Psalms. It’s a prayer asking the Lord for help. David knew to wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 37:7, “ Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…” He knew the Lord would hear him. Psalm 6:9, “The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.” God’s grace moved David to sing a new song of salvation. God’s faithfulness is trustworthy.

As a young girl it was easy to sing a song of trust. My parents were both loving and caring. They provided for our family of eight with everything we needed. Choosing to follow Jesus was natural to trust Him with the direction of my life. Someone that’s not had that background may find it difficult to trust the Lord. Time spent in God’s Word daily draws me closer to Him. Like David, prayer is the key. I trust God because He’s faithful and trustworthy.

Where do we see God’s consistent faithfulness in your life?

Trusting God because He is faithful,
