Psalm 33:6-8 NIV2011

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their stray host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him.

This Psalm was written in praise of the sovereign God of Israel. The leader of the choir spoke in verses 1-3, the choir responded in verses 4-19 and the people responded in the last three verses. Psalm 33:3, “Sing to him a new song.” This was possibly during the revival of Judah. God created everything merely through His Word. The Lord’s order is such that He can warehouse what is needed. His Word is Law. All must obey the Lord not solely Israel. God is sovereign. Psalm 33:10, “The Lord foils the plans of nations.” Almighty God is Ruler of the universe.

After walking earlier today, this Scripture came to mind and I could only smile. I was thankful God created all of the amazing desert beauty I saw as I walked. While many may think they have sway over the universe, they are all wrong. I smile when someone says they know what’s going to happen. I know God is now and always will be in control. While, we’ve all been created to be good stewards of this earth, God alone is the Ruler of the universe.

How does God rule the universe?

Stewards for Him,

S
