Romans 1:8-10a NIV 2011
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world. God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times…
Paul’s letter to the church in Rome was sent ahead of his visit in preparation for eventual arrival there. His letter was threefold: why visit, teachings on salvation and God’s overall plan for redemption. He gave thanks through the only One, Christ. John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” Jesus’ words are very specific; going through Him is the only way to the Father. God hears prayers through Jesus Christ.
Jesus “is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us,” Romans 8:34. When I pause in my day and remember all that Jesus did for me at the cross, I’m humbled and thankful. But it does not stop there because He intercedes for me daily. Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” At salvation, I was welcomed into the family of God through Christ Jesus. God hears my prayers through Christ.
Why does Christ intercede for believers?
