2 Timothy 1:11-12 NIV2011
And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
Paul began his second letter to Timothy reiterating what he’d previously written. 1Timothy 2:7, “And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle.” Paul was sent to testify that Christ bridged the gap between God and man making salvation available to all. He preached the Good News. Paul was never ashamed of the Gospel. Romans 1:16a, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel.” Meeting Christ on that dusty road to Damascus, Paul believed and confidently proclaimed the Truth. Consistently assured, he continued to preach until his last breath. The Lord calls and keeps His own.
I remember my grandchildren wanting me to read them a story before they went to sleep. Our girls were the same. The apostle Paul was very straightforward when he spoke the Truth of Jesus Christ. Yesterday’s Scripture gave the reason Jesus came. I’m thankful He came but more, I appreciate that each of us has a purpose. We each need to discover what He has called us to do for Him. I’m thankful He called me to write and daily keeps me faithfully His.
