John 5:6, 8 NIV 2011
When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
Then Jesus sad to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”
Jesus was near a pool where disabled people gathered. A may lay on a mat unable to reach the pool with purported “healing powers.” Jesus approached the man with a question but the man misunderstood Jesus and His question. John 5:6, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred.” The man heard Jesus’ challenge and made a decision. He believed Jesus, was healed and walked away. John 5:9, “At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked away.” Body and soul are healed through the Lord’s powerful presence and His promised peace.
While reading a book an the author stated, “Sickness can steal the place of God. It can become the sick person’s center, the touchstone by which they define themselves.” It went on to state sickness doesn’t just want the body but the heart and mind as well. When I’m in the middle of a painful situation, I can relate to that statement. I become so paralyzed with what’s wrong I forget to pray. God alone will restore my body and soul revealing His powerful presence and promised peace daily.
What does God need to heal today?
God makes us whole,
