Psalm 111:7-9 NIV 2011
The works of his hands are faithful and just; all precepts are trustworthy. They are established for ever and ever, enacted in faithfulness and uprightness. He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is his name.
This is the introduction Psalm of the “Egyptian Hallel” praising God for His unfailing righteousness. God is faithful and just, recapping verse 3, “Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.” The second declaration reinforces verse 4, “He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.” What God rendered remains. Psalm 119:160, “All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.” God provided a way back to Him. Luke 1:68, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them.” Gazing at God’s faithfulness pushes God’s people closer to Jesus.
Opening up the mail yesterday, a smile tugged at my lips while opening a Christmas card from friends. The picture of a happy couple with Monaco in the background was the reason for the smile. Remembering a morning in April 2014, God prompted me to faithfully support this couple with Scripture and prayer. The smile was a result of seeing God’s hand upon them through it all and His consistent faithfulness. By looking back and remembering daily God’s faithfulness, that moves me closer to Jesus.
How is God’s faithfulness moving us?
