Exodus 20:6, Judges 5:31a NIV 2011
“… but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.”
“So may all your enemies perish, Lord! But may all who love you be like the sun when it rises in its strength.”
God spoke to the Israelites in the desert giving them Ten Commandments by which to live. God loved Israel and provided for them from the beginning of time. Psalm 105:8, “He remembers his covenant forever; the promise he made, for a thousand generations.” The only response He desired was for their obedience in keeping His commandments and loving Him. Deborah’s song ended with prayer. Having just been victorious over their enemies, the Israelites were to remember God’s faithfulness to them. Loving the Lord was His only request. He’d asked this of Israel in the desert. God loves and protects His penitent people.
By reflecting on what has happened in our past helps us navigate the future. Israel learned that lesson over and over again. Thankfully God sent His Son as the final atonement for the sins of all. Reading God’s Word daily helps me focus on how He’s faithfully remained with me. Am I that faithful? It is my goal to look to Him in every circumstance. Putting together another trip, I hesitated finalizing two bookings within the Philippines. Well, God revealed yet another option. He protects and loves me every day.
Where have you seen His protection and love?
His penitent people,
