Judges 6:13b-14 NIV 2011

“Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.”

Judges 6:1, “The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord…” The angel of Lord said to Gideon, “The Lord is with you mighty warrior.” But Gideon had and made many excuses as to why he was not God’s choice. His story is found in Judges 6-8. He knew God used His people BY information passed down by others. Psalm 44:1, “We have heard it with our ears, O God; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago.” God strengthens and equips those He calls.

There have been times when I’ve been unsure God is actually calling me. And like Gideon, I ask for a sign to confirm the call rather than pray about it. As I’ve aged that’s less likely because I know God does not make mistakes when He calls us. What He wants is for us to obediently say, “Yes!” Reaping the blessings after saying yes is greater than the request. Looking back reveals it’s for His glory. He strengthens and equips me daily when called.

How is He calling you today?
