Psalm 139:4-6 NIV 2011
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
David wanted God to look at his heart to see the true devotion he had to the Him. He enumerated God’s omniscience. Hebrews 4:13, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.” God knew David perfectly even better than he knew himself. God kept David secure by “hemming him in.” Neither David nor Job could escape God’s grasp. Job 13:27, “You fasten my fee in shackles; you keep close watch on all my parts by putting marks on the soles of my feet.” David was mortal and God is not. God knows everything and nothing is hidden from Him.
Job painted a vivid picture of our God putting marks on the souls of our feet. I’ve always loved shoes because they cover my feet. I don’t think they’ve ever been beautiful. They are what I use to keep me moving. Job’s words give new meaning to feet since God has put marks on the soles of them to keep track of me. After my daily walk down and up the hill this morning, I know God was keeping track of me. God knows everything about me and nothing is hidden from Him.
What is God watching us do today?
