Isaiah 60:1-3NIV 2011
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the kingdoms of your dawn.”
A resolute relationship with the Lord was Isaiah’s continual call to God’s people. Unfortunately, they were like rocks on the seashore day after day pounded by the waves. Their sinful choices were eroding their resolve. Isaiah offered in Isaiah 8:20, “Consult God’s instructions…if anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.” God’s Light is continually available to those that turn from sinful ways and return to Him. God’s Light would once again shine lighting the way. God’s presence in His people lights the path for unbelievers.
Psalm 104:2, “The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment.” Jesus is the Light of the World. As a believer, I need to share His Light daily. Unfortunately, I’m much like the rocks on the beach slowly being changed over time. The Psalms are a favorite place to go and escape the waves on the beach. They remind me there is always a better choice to make. Sin doesn’t allow my light to shine. Confession flips my switch enabling me to again light the path for unbelievers.
What keeps the Lord’s Light shining?
Together in His presence,
